Space Lobsters!

The Lobsters at Beach Party Point is a sci-fi comedy short from director Brian Terrill, currently in post-production and anticipating a fall 2025 release.

Inspired by 50s alien invasion flicks and 60s beach party musicals, this tongue-in-cheek “space shanty” follows two star-crossed lovers, as a battle for the beach looms between their species.

The project aims to capture the color and energy of the surf rock scene, with the pie-pan flying saucer aesthetic of Ed Wood. It carries on the tradition of Count Gauntly’s Horrors from the Public Domain, Brian’s public access TV series showcasing vintage monster movies. Films like Teenagers from Outer Space and Beach Girls & the Monster captured big visions with small budgets – and now Brian strives to do the same.

“LBPP” is Brian’s Capstone film, produced in completion of the MFA at American University. Cast and crew include AU students, alumni, and other Washington-area creative professionals.  The film promises kitschy art direction, crabtastic dialogue, miniature model effects, and vibrant animation… but we can’t do it alone!
